Friday, 17 February: Ahmed Al Hameli and Majed Al Mansoori took time out from their pre-season preparations to attend the 3rd Annual UIM Gala Awards to receive recognition for winning the inaugural Nations Cup held in Singapore’s Marina Bay in November last year.
Al Hameli was the star of the first running of the Nations Cup, going fastest in qualifying, beating Team Qatar in the final of the Match Race and winning the Nations Cup Singapore Grand Prix, with teammate Mansooris’ fourth place clinching the overall Team Trophy for the United Arab Emirates.
The Emirati duo now face a hectic few weeks with both heading to Qatar in March for their season-openers, Al Hameli in the F1h2o Championship and Mansoori in the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, before they both head to Khor Fakkan in the Emirate of Sharjah to start the defence of their Nations Cup title.
