China’s Xiong Ziwei And Australia’s Corey Davoll Set Identical Fastest Times In Practice

Thursday, 22 September, SHANGHAI (China): Xiong Ziwei gave Team China a big boost ahead of this afternoon’s crucial sprint races to decide the overall winner of Nations Cup, posting the fastest time of the morning in official practice.

After suffering technical issues yesterday the team has turned around its fortune with 25-year-old Xiong running 30 laps in the one hour session to post a time of 43.53, a second quicker than yesterday’s best time in qualifying set by Roman Vandyshev.

Matching him second for second was Australian Corey Davoll, who will start race 1 from third place after an impressive outing in qualifying yesterday.

Team USA drivers jay Price and Scott Gillman posted third and fifth fastest times, 43.78 and 43.99 respectively, with yesterday’s pace setter in qualifying Roman Vandyshev sixth fastest with 44.86.

Yesterday’s match race winner Rashed Al Qamzi posted a fifth best time of 43.95 but will have his work cut out in race 1, starting from 10th position off the dock.

Both sprint races of the UIM H2O BUND Holding Group Nations Cup Grand Prix of Shanghai will be broadcast and streamed live on cuph2o.com
